How to please an audience
Kojak’s Revenge Summer Beach Party, The Wedgewood Rooms, Southsea
It’s quite rare you see an unsigned band packing out the Wedgewood Rooms every time they play a gig there. But the lads from Kojak’s Revenge sure do know how to please their audience.
Sporting a hair-do not dissimilar to that of Brandon Flowers from the Killers, charismatic frontman Kevin Smith got the crowd involved from the moment the band started.
Bursting into the Beatles’ Can’t Buy Me Love early on, the audience seemed mesmerised as they sang along or nodded their heads vigorously.
Then the band introduced a more rocky Tainted Love, warming up the crowd who were then in full voice for the chorus of Video Killed The Radiostar.
After a short interval the Kojak team brought out the big guns when Buck Rogers by Feeder was belted out and a superb version of the Foo Fighters’ Pretender was delivered.
Also on the hit-list was Starlight by Muse and Backfire At The Disco by The Wombats, which sent the crowd into a dancing frenzy.
Kojak’s Revenge left the stage drenched in sweat but with spectators more that satisfied.
I can’t wait for the Christmas Party!
